Dodgy dealers paid £10 a time to youngsters to join a massive queue and snap up the new version of the computer tablet as soon as it went on sale. The iPads will be flown to India — where they have yet to be launched and can be sold to wealthy businessmen for well over the odds. Thousands of genuine customers waited for up to 30 hours outside the Apple store in Covent Garden, central London. But hundreds of youths — mostly Indians in their late teens and early 20s and often students — infiltrated the line-up on behalf of dealers.
